We are almost a month into baby led weaning. This is the process in which you give your baby solids that you eat rather than commercial jar purées. Your baby learns to chew first, then swallow.
Madison has enjoyed such a variety over the past several weeks. Pears, apple, carrots, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, nectarine, banana, lasagna. We cut up the food into wedges she is able to pick up and hold in her fists.
One thing BLWers warn about is the mess associated with this style of eating because you don’t spoon feed her anything. You put the food on her tray and she puts in her mouth what she is able to pick up. Fortunately for us, she hasn’t made any big messes….yet. Nothing has made it to the floor. She drops some to her lap, but that’s about it.
